Jeju Island will launch the “Jeju Digital Tourist Card” later this year, a new membership service that will provide points and discounts for tourists.
The Jeju government said on march 17, “We are building a Jeju digital tourist card system based on non-fungible token (NFT) technology with the goal of introducing it in September.”

The Jeju Digital Tourist Card is a “Jeju membership” system that allows anyone visiting Jeju to apply and get it issued easily. Points are given based on the number of visits to Jeju. It is also under consideration to provide travel subsidies if certain criteria are met. There are also discounts for various facilities on the island, including public and private tourist attractions.
The system is based on the structure that the more often people visit Jeju, the more benefits they get. For this reason, the island expects that the issuance of a digital tourist card will increase the revisit rate to Jeju and create new travel demand, especially among the digital savvy MZ generation.
