U.S. President Donald Trump stated that, because the Korean National Assembly has not carried out the legal procedures necessary to implement the trade agreement between South Korea and the United States, he would raise tariffs on Korean-made products back to levels prior to the trade agreement.
On the 26th (local time), President Trump wrote on the SNS platform Truth Social, “The Korean legislature is not honoring the agreement between Korea and the United States,” adding, “Accordingly, I am raising tariffs on automobiles, lumber, pharmaceuticals, and all other reciprocal tariffs from 15% to 25%.”
