It is said that the daughters of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and NVIDIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jensen Huang also joined their recent Silicon Valley ‘chimaek (chicken·beer) meetup’ in the United States. During the roughly two-hour gathering, the two discussed strengthening their companies’ artificial intelligence (AI) alliance and appeared to deepen their rapport.
According to business circles on the 11th, Chairman Chey met CEO Huang at ‘99 Chicken’ in Santa Clara, California, on the 5th (local time) to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in AI businesses, including the supply of high bandwidth memory (HBM). 99 Chicken is a typical Korean-style hof that serves chicken along with soju·beer.
The meeting was also joined by Chey’s daughter, Chey Yoon-jung, head of Strategy at SK Biopharm, and Huang’s daughter, Madison Huang, who helps lead NVIDIA alongside him. Last October in Seoul’s Gangnam District, Madison Huang arranged a chicken-and-beer meetup among CEO Huang, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Euisun. At the time, Chairman Chey was also invited to join, but he was unable to attend because he was serving as chair of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit.
At the Silicon Valley chicken-and-beer meetup held roughly three months later, NVIDIA Senior Vice President Jeff Fisher, NVIDIA Vice President Kaushik Ghosh, and Kim Joo-sun, Head of AI Infrastructure at SK hynix, also took part.

Chairman Chey presented CEO Huang with the semiconductor-themed snack ‘HBM Chips’ along with the new book <Super Momentum>, which highlights the history of SK hynix and his own leadership. It was a reciprocal gesture for Huang’s gifts during his visit to Korea last year, when he presented the personal AI supercomputer ‘DGX Spark’ and the Japanese whisky Hakushu. CEO Huang reportedly sampled the ‘HBM Chips’ on the spot and, after hearing an explanation of <Super Momentum>, opened the book and showed it to those around him, indicating his interest.
Chairman Chey is said to have been staying in the United States since early this month for a series of meetings with CEO Huang and other local big tech companies. Since September last year, he has served as chair of the SK Americas board and as chairman of SK hynix America, the U.S. subsidiary of SK hynix.
