Ahead of a visit to Korea by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Brazilian First Lady Rosangela da Silva shared on social media a photo of herself in hanbok after engaging with the Korean community.
On the 10th (local time), according to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Sao Paulo and the World Korean Women's Network (KOWIN) Brazil chapter, da Silva held a friendly meeting the previous day at the residence of the consul general in Sao Paulo with the Korean Association in Brazil and officials from the consulate general.
At the event, da Silva received a hanbok as a gift.
She posted on her Instagram photographs taken while wearing a white jeogori and a skirt with a bluish hue. Around her in the photo were a folding screen, mother-of-pearl crafts, dasik, and other traditional Korean items.
In her Instagram post, she wrote, “I had the honor of receiving a hanbok as a gift ahead of an official visit to Korea,” and introduced the hanbok as “traditional Korean attire mainly worn for festivals, weddings, holidays, and cultural events.” She also highly valued cultural links between the two countries, such as music and food, and emphasized, “I will soon visit Korea to further strengthen diplomatic·cultural·economic ties.”
Earlier, Cheong Wa Dae stated that it was coordinating the schedule for President Lula to visit Korea. President Lula married da Silva in May 2022, and his two previous wives had both passed away.
