Naver announced on the 26th that it has launched a ‘shopping artificial intelligence (AI) agent’ on its own shopping application, Naver Plus Store.
The Shopping AI Agent 1.0 version unveiled that day supports users in shopping exploration by summarizing and comparing product information and analyzing reviews, based on the vast data accumulated by Naver.
When a user enters a shopping keyword, the AI agent activates and either presents a shopping exploration guide or suggests ‘Ask AI’.
For example, if a user searches for ‘sofa’, the AI agent analyzes past shopping activity, summarizes various buying tips by number of users, space size, and materials, and introduces suitable brands.
When more specific exploration is needed, users can continue shopping by conversing with the AI agent.
“Recommend a sofa for a newlywed home. I live with a dog.” If you state your shopping purpose like this, the AI agent analyzes product information and purchase reviews, explores multiple product groups, and recommends optimized products.
Naver plans to first offer the beta 1.0 version in the Digital, Living, and Lifestyle categories, then expand to Beauty, Food, and others within the first half of the year. The AI agent will gradually add features such as real-time shopping trend analysis, automatic recommendations for related products, and add-to-cart.
Naver explained that, to efficiently handle the complex, high-difficulty process from product exploration to comparison and recommendation, it organically connected sub-agents that deliver optimal performance at each step. Through this, it has simultaneously improved service operation efficiency and execution capabilities.
Choi Soo-Yeon, CEO of Naver, said, “Through an AI convergence ecosystem that organically connects commerce, content, and data around the shopping AI agent, we will strive to create new business and creative environments.”
