Famed musical actor Nam Kyung-ju (63), who was handed over to prosecutors on suspicion of raping a woman, now faces possible disciplinary action from Hongik University, where he serves as an associate professor.
Hongik University announced on the 12th that it recently convened a disciplinary committee regarding Nam, who is an associate professor in the Department of Performing Arts.
A Hongik University official said “a disciplinary committee regarding Nam has been convened, and personnel measures are underway”.
Nam is under suspicion of raping a woman in Seoul last year. The Bangbae Police Station in Seoul last month forwarded Nam without detention to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office on a charge of sexual intercourse by abuse of authority.
During police questioning, Nam denied the allegation, but police determined the charge was substantiated and referred the case to prosecutors.
