A father in Busan with a 60-day-old daughter gave the gift of new life to five people before passing away.
The Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency announced on the 13th that on January 30 at Busan Dong-A University Hospital, Park Seong-bae (41) saved the lives of five people through organ donation after brain death. According to the agency, on January 19 Mr. Park was transported to a hospital after complaining of a headache during sleep but did not regain consciousness.
After being told there was no possibility that Mr. Park would wake up, his family agreed to donation, resolving to help save other lives. The agency explained that they hoped that when the newborn later remembers her father, she can remember him as a good person who carried out a noble act of giving.
The organs Mr. Park donated were his heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys. He was born in Busan as the elder of a son and a daughter. He is known to have majored in a field related to physical education and worked at a shipyard. He loved sports and enjoyed playing soccer and other activities on weekends.
According to the agency, his wife Lim Hyun-jung said, “Honey, do not worry about us. I will raise our daughter, giving her plenty of love for your share as well” and “When we meet again later, just tell me then that I did well. I miss you very much. I love you very much,” offering her final farewell to the late Mr. Park.
