President Lee Jae Myung sent a congratulatory message to athlete Kim Yoon-ji, who won four medals at the 2026 Milano-Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Paralympics.
On the 14th, the president wrote on Facebook, “Congratulations on Kim Yoon-ji’s fourth medal,” adding, “An astonishing achievement that makes it hard to believe this is her first Olympic appearance.”
He continued, “With the fourth medal earned at this Games, Kim Yoon-ji has tied the record for the most medals by an individual at a single Games across both Winter and Summer, the Olympics and the Paralympics,” and added, “In particular, looking only at individual events, she has made new history with the most medals at a single Games.”
He went on to say, “As always, we look forward to her showcasing her best form in the upcoming women’s cross-country 20㎞ interval start,” adding, “We also send warm encouragement and applause to the wheelchair curling mixed fours national team, who finished fourth after a fierce contest.”
On the 8th, in the 12.5㎞, Kim Yoon-ji became the first Korean woman ever to win a Winter Paralympic gold medal. She went on to collect three silvers: in the cross-country skiing sprint on the 10th, the interval start on the 11th, and the biathlon women’s sprint pursuit sitting event the previous day. On the 15th, she is scheduled to compete in the cross-country skiing 20㎞ interval start.
