BTS 5th album <Arirang> (ARIRANG) sold about 4.17 million copies in its first week, setting another personal record.
According to the album sales tracking site Hanteo Chart on the 27th, BTS new release <Arirang>, released on the 20th, sold 4,169,464 copies over one week after release. This exceeds the first-week figure of 3.37 million for the 4th full-length album <Map of the Soul : 7>, unveiled in February 2020.
The new release became a million seller about 10 minutes after it was unveiled and sold 3.98 million copies on the first day alone, setting the highest single-day sales among albums released in 2026. BigHit Music said “The expectations of music fans around the world who had been waiting for BTS were proven by explosive numbers.”
<Arirang> ranked No. 1 in a cumulative 115 countries (regions) on the Apple Music Global Albums chart as of the 27th. On its release day (the 20th), the new release recorded the highest number of streams among all BTS albums. The title track ‘Swim’ held No. 1 for six consecutive days (March 20~25) on the global streaming platform Spotify in ‘Daily Top Songs Global’.
The 5th album also took No. 1 in Japan on the Oricon chart in ‘Weekly Combined Album Ranking’, ‘Weekly Album Ranking’, and ‘Weekly Digital Album Ranking’. It also posted the highest weekly sales among overseas artists.
After finishing the comeback performance held at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on the 21st, BTS departed for the United States. On the 23rd (local time) they held a Spotify performance in New York, and on the 25th they appeared on NBC <Jimmy Fallon Show>.
