Led by Ryan Gosling, <Project Hail Mary> topped the daily box office, beating director Jang Hang-jun’s <The Man Who Lives with the King>. It’s the first time in 51 days that <The Man Who Lives with the King> has yielded the top spot on the daily box office.
According to the Integrated Computer Network for Movie Tickets on the 4th, <Project Hail Mary> drew about 58,000 moviegoers the previous day (37.8% share of box office revenue), rising to No. 1 on the daily box office. It is the first time it has taken daily No. 1 since its release on the 18th of last month, and its cumulative admissions are tallied at about 1,364,000.
<Project Hail Mary> is a science fiction (SF) film about middle school science teacher Grace (Ryan Gosling), who goes into space to save humanity from an apocalyptic crisis and collaborates with an unexpected being ‘Rocky’. It is based on the novel of the same name by Andy Weir, widely known for <The Martian>.
The film has earned praise for its superb space visuals and moving narrative. The CGV Egg Index, based on actual audience evaluations, recorded 97%.

Director Jang Hang-jun’s ten-million-viewer film <The Man Who Lives with the King> ranked second as about 52,000 people (29.4%) attended on the same day. Compared with the previous Friday (March 27, about 98,000), the audience count nearly halved.
It has been 51 days since <The Man Who Lives with the King> ceded the daily box office top spot, since the release day of <Humint> on February 11.
<The Man Who Lives with the King> depicts Danjong (Park Ji-hoon), deposed from the throne and exiled to Yeongwol, Gangwon, spending the final period of his life with villagers including headman Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hae-jin). The 34th film in history to surpass ten million admissions, <The Man Who Lives with the King> had drawn about 15,783,000 viewers as of the previous day, ranking third in all-time admissions.
