Iran stated that, on the condition that the U.S. halts its attacks, it will guarantee safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks.
According to AFP on the 7th (local time), Iran said it would guarantee safe passage for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks and plans to use this period for negotiations to end the war with the U.S. The talks are scheduled to begin on the 10th in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, said on X that “for two weeks, taking into account coordination with Iranian forces and technical conditions, safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible”.
The Supreme National Security Council of Iran also said in a separate statement that while the talks are scheduled for two weeks, they could be extended by mutual agreement.
