Jennie of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK (legal name Kim Jennie, 30) has been named to Time magazine's '100 Most Influential People of the Year'.
According to the 'Time 100' list released by Time on the 15th (local time), Jennie was included in the Artists category.
Last year, Jennie released the solo album 'Ruby' and, as the first female K-pop solo artist, set a record by placing three songs on the Billboard main singles chart, the 'Hot 100', simultaneously.
Gracie Abrams, a singer-songwriter and daughter of renowned film director J. J. Abrams, told Time, "To cut to the chase, she is a star," adding, "There is magic at her core. Whether you see it through a screen, in a stadium of 100,000, at a party, or in a backstage hallway, it pulls you in just the same," as she introduced Jennie.
Also named in the Artists category were Korean American pop star Anderson .Paak and Dakota Johnson, among others.
In the Leaders category, U.S. President Donald Trump; Pope Leo XIV; Chinese President Xi Jinping; Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi; Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney; Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum; U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio; New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani; California Governor Gavin Newsom; and U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff were selected.
In the 'Icons' category, which selects figures symbolizing a particular era, Korean American snowboarder Chloe Kim and Alysa Liu, who won the gold medal in women's singles figure skating at this year's Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics, were among those listed.
Last year, BLACKPINK member Rose was listed in the 'Pioneers' category of the '100 Most Influential People of the Year'.
