Starbucks Korea is expanding the rollout of region-special beverages that capture the flavors and vibe of Seoul to all locations in the city.
Starbucks announced on the 6th that it will sell ‘Seoul Sunset Omija Fizzio’ and ‘Seoul Makgeolli-scented Cold Brew’ at all stores across the Seoul area.
These Seoul-special beverages debuted in March at 100 stores in the Seoul area and were planned to offer a special travel experience to domestic and international tourists visiting Seoul.
Seoul Sunset Omija Fizzio, whose visuals evoke the glow of a sunset spreading over palace ponds, is considered good for taking shareable photos. In addition, ‘Seoul Makgeolli-scented Cold Brew’ incorporates the aroma of makgeolli, a traditional Korean rice wine, into coffee to provide a distinctive K-food experience, drawing interest. On social media and across various communities, positive reactions continue, such as “a new way to enjoy a trip to Seoul” and “expressing Seoul with Korean ingredients makes it even more HIP (cool).”
Starbucks is continuing a pre-launch strategy that reflects customer preferences and trends. This time, it will first introduce the summer seasonal beverage ‘Watermelon Juice Blended’ at Seoul-area stores to help cool the early heat.
Watermelon Juice Blended blends watermelon flesh and watermelon juice together to bring out a rich fruit flavor. A chocolate-peanut topping reminiscent of watermelon seeds is added on top to recreate the look and texture of eating real watermelon. The new beverage is scheduled to expand to stores nationwide from the end of this month.
A Starbucks representative said, “We hope the Seoul-special beverages will become a highlight that adds romance to travel” and added, “We will continue to offer enjoyable experiences to customers through menus unique to Starbucks.”
Starbucks is also operating specialty beverages·foods in the Jeju region inspired by local specialties and natural scenery, providing differentiated experiences for tourists.
