Kim Keon-hee appeared at the trial of Ahn Hae-uk, former head of the Korea Elementary School Taekwondo Association, and others, who were indicted after raising the so-called ‘Julie’ allegations, and stated that the allegations are false.

On the 20th, Kim Keon-hee appeared as a witness at the trial on charges including violations of the Public Official Election Act against Ahn and others, heard by the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 34 (Presiding Judge Han Seong-jin).

Earlier, Ahn and others were indicted on charges of making false statements to the effect that, ahead of the 2022 20th presidential election, ‘Ms. Kim had in the past worked at an entertainment bar under the stage name Julie’.

During questioning by the prosecutor, Ms. Kim answered that all claims by Ahn and the others were false. In response to the question, ‘Have you ever used the alias Julie?’, she said, “Not even once.” Ms. Kim said, “I was shocked when I heard talk of ‘Julie,’ and from then I began taking psychiatric medication,” adding, “I want punishment unless there is genuine remorse (from the defendants).”

As Ms. Kim appeared as a witness on this day, the court revoked the previously imposed fine of 3 million won on her. At the April 21 hearing, the court had decided to impose a 3 million won fine on Ms. Kim for not complying with a witness summons. Under the Criminal Procedure Act, if a witness who has been served a summons fails to appear without just cause, the court may impose a fine of up to 5 million won.
