At around 2:55 p.m. on the 2nd, on a road in Jangjae-ri, Baebang-eup, Asan, South Chungcheong Province, an accident occurred in which an elementary school student riding a bicycle was run over by a city bus.
As a result of the accident, boy A, 10, was rescued by the responding fire authorities, was transported to a nearby hospital while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but ultimately died.
According to police, while riding his bicycle near a crosswalk, A collided with the side of a city bus that was in motion and fell, and it is understood that he was subsequently run over as the bus began to pull away.
Police believe the bus driver operated the vehicle without noticing A after he had fallen.
