Xi Jinping, President of China, who is visiting North Korea, watched a cultural performance prepared by Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea. The performance featured songs themed around patriotism toward China.

According to China Central Television (CCTV) and Xinhua News Agency on the 9th, President Xi watched a special cultural performance with Chairman Kim at around 9 p.m. the previous night at the Pyongyang Gymnasium. Peng Liyuan, the wife of President Xi, and North Korea's Ri Sol-ju also attended.

Reports said that when President Xi and his wife and Chairman Kim and his wife entered the rostrum of the gymnasium together, the audience and performers welcomed them with applause and cheers.

North Korean singers performed famous Chinese songs. ‘Me and My Motherland’, ‘Jasmine Flower’, and ‘The Red Flag Flutters’ were performed, and the song ‘I Love You, China’, which emphasizes patriotism toward China, was also staged. Its lyrics include lines such as “I want to dedicate the most beautiful song to you, my mother, my motherland” and “I want to dedicate my beautiful youth to you, my mother, my motherland”.

The program included not only songs but also dance and acrobatics, with a focus on highlighting North Korea-China friendship. CCTV reported that President Xi and Chairman Kim responded with applause several times during the performance.

The performance concluded with a chorus of ‘Everlasting North Korea-China Friendship’, which expresses the hope that the friendship between North Korea and China will last forever. Afterward, wreaths in the names of President Xi and his wife and Chairman Kim and his wife were presented to the performers.

Cai Qi, Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of China, and Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, also attended the performance that day.
