Reuters reported, citing Iranian state media, that on the 10th (local time) Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had attacked the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain with drones in response to U.S. airstrikes in southern Iran.
According to Reuters, the Guard warned in a statement that if U.S. “aggression” continues, there will be a “stronger response.” The Guard said clashes are ongoing.
Earlier, the Guard claimed the United States had destroyed one communications tower and two water tanks in the southern Iranian port city of Sirik in airstrikes.
Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command said in a statement that “U.S. forces conducted strikes against Iran's air defenses, ground control centers, and surveillance radar facilities and completed the operation.” The strikes began this morning in retaliation for the shootdown of a U.S. military helicopter the previous day.
