A lodging facility owner who inspected the inside of a guest room despite the guest refusing was sentenced to a fine.
According to the legal community on the 12th, Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 10 (Presiding Judge Yoo Hyung-woong) sentenced A (in their 40s), indicted on a charge of intrusion into a room, to a fine of 1 million won, suspended for one year.
A, who runs a lodging facility in Dong-gu, Gwangju, was indicted on suspicion of entering a guest room at about 11 a.m. on May 4 last year while it was occupied.
It was found that A said there was a cigarette odor in the room at the time and attempted to check the interior.
The guest refused and asked A to leave, but A did not comply.
The judge said, “Although there appear to have been circumstances to suspect smoking in the room, the requirements for a justifiable act under the Criminal Act were not satisfied.”
