The police-prosecution Joint Investigation Headquarters investigating the 6·3 local elections ‘ballot paper shortage incident’ has imposed an overseas travel ban on former National Election Commission Chair Noh Tae-ak and others.

According to Kyunghyang Shinmun reporting on the 12th, the Ministry of Justice recently, at the request of the Joint Investigation Headquarters, imposed an overseas travel ban on former Chair Noh and former Secretary-General Heo Cheol-hoon, as well as other election commission officials.

On the previous day (the 11th), the Joint Investigation Headquarters carried out search and seizure operations at seven locations, including the National Election Commission, the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission, and the district election commissions of Songpa, Seocho, Gangnam, Gwangjin, and Dongjak. The search warrant listed as suspects more than ten people, including former National Election Commission Chair Noh, former Secretary-General Heo, and the chairpersons and secretariat directors of each local election commission. During the raids, the Joint Investigation Headquarters secured ballot paper printing plans, meeting minutes, and budget documents.
