President Lee Jae Myung will announce large scale investment plans by Samsung Electronics and SK Group on the 29th.
On this day, President Lee will preside at the Blue House over the ‘National Briefing on Three Mega Projects for the Republic of Korea Great Leap’. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won will attend.
The projects to be announced are expected to focus on establishing large scale semiconductor clusters, artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, and the physical AI industry centered on Honam, Chungcheong, and Yeongnam, with the aim of promoting balanced regional development. The total investment is expected to exceed 1,000 trillion won over ten years.
Following President Lee’s opening remarks, the briefing will proceed with presentations on semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data center plans by Minister Kim Jeong-gwan of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon. Minister Kim Sung-hwan of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and Minister Kim Yoon-deok of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will also present power·water supply measures and plans to develop hub cities to support these initiatives. After Chairman Lee and Chairman Chey announce their groups plans for regional investment, a discussion involving all participants is scheduled.
Also attending the briefing are LG Electronics, Furiosa, ROBOTIS, HD Hyundai Robotics, GS, KT, Korea Electric Power Corporation, and Korea Water Resources Corporation.
