On the 5th, it was learned that Second Comprehensive Special Counsel Kwon Chang-young has secured testimony that, from the early days of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, a large office for former President Yoon Suk-yeol's spouse, Kim Keon-hee, existed within the Yongsan Presidential Office. Kim's side countered that a small office was installed in late 2024 when a Second Auxiliary Office was established at the Presidential Office.

In the course of its recent investigation into alleged favoritism surrounding the relocation of the presidential residence, the comprehensive special counsel secured testimony from a Presidential Security Service official to the effect that “an office for the first lady was installed at the Yongsan Presidential Office.” The official is said to have testified that Kim's office was as large as half of one floor of the presidential office and that a budget of about 1 billion KRW was used.

The comprehensive special counsel believes the timing of the installation of Kim's office was the early period of the Yoon administration. The team also obtained testimony that Kim directly convened working-level staff of the Presidential Security Service and, saying “the presidential office feels too empty,” indicated that expansion work was needed. At the time, Kim was found to have directly asked a Presidential Security Service official whether a construction budget could be secured.

In a December 2021 Dong-A Ilbo interview as a presidential candidate, former President Yoon said of the Second Auxiliary Office that assists the president's spouse, “I think it should be abolished. The president's wife is merely family.” That month, Kim also apologized at a press conference over the controversy regarding her falsified credentials and promised, “Even if my husband becomes president, I will be faithful only to the role of a wife.”

Kim's legal team stated, “In the past, the Blue House had an office for the first lady, but in the early Yoon Suk-yeol administration there was no working space for the first lady,” adding, “When the establishment of the Second Auxiliary Office was announced in the second half of 2024, a small Second Auxiliary Office and a first lady's office were installed in vacant space within the Presidential Office.”
