At about 4:26 p.m. on the 6th, hydrazine, a toxic substance, leaked at the Korea Electronics Technology Institute in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, prompting the emergency evacuation of about 300 people, including employees in the laboratory building.

No casualties have been confirmed so far.

Hydrazine is a highly toxic chemical used as a propellant for rockets and spacecraft.

The amount of hydrazine released is estimated at about 200㎖.

Firefighters dispatched to the scene entered the laboratory in chemical protective suits, opened windows to ventilate, and used absorbent pads to remove the spilled hydrazine.

Police and fire authorities believe the accident occurred while moving a box that stored glass bottles containing hydrazine solution, and they are determining the exact circumstances.
